Mineral Spot: Hematite...

Hematite is an iron oxide mineral and can occur in many forms. These include thin hexagonal plates that may appear red, thicker tabular crystals, botryoidal masses, earthy, and this form, which is spheres that have attached themselves to an edenite crystal.

This is a specimen from Hendersons Quarry, Ngongataha, near Rotorua, New Zealand, collected by me in October last year.
